Are torsional effects a concern for deep beams with Ricon S VS connectors?

Deep beams paired with smaller Ricon S VS beam hangers can experience out-of-plane twisting when not restrained properly.
Ricon S VS connectors may provide resistance against torsional effects on deep beams during construction, but only in a limited capacity. After construction, sheathing over the beams is usually adequate to prevent deep beams from twisting out. Toe screws can be installed to prevent these effects before sheathing is installed. These inclined fully-threaded screws provide adequate resistance against torsion at the supports and are simple to install on site, as shown in the figure below. The screws are typically selected to be a 5/16” diameter ASSY VG driven at a 45° angle.
