Max Closen
Max holds an Engineering degree in Wood Building Construction and Wood Finishing from the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim, Germany. Also Max has recently finished his Master studies with the Timber Engineering Group at the University of British Columbia. For his master degree he specialized in Self-Tapping-Wood Screw (STS) assemblies under seismic loads. As UBC graduate research assistant he conducted research on STS-reinforces Moment Resisting Bolted Timber Connections and STS-Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) connections.
Before Max entered University he has completed a 3 year apprenticeship as cabinet maker in Germany. After graduation he worked as carpenter and cabinet maker for a period of 3 years. During this time he gathered experience in Passive-house construction, heavy timber framing, lightweight house construction and custom furniture construction.
Max strongly believes that the right combination of Engineering know how, craftsmanship and high tech timber connectors will push the limits in wood construction to the next level. Combining these essential parameters will allow for tremendous wooden structures at competitive cost and most importantly, safety in the near future.
